Story Orgy – I Am Not Myself, Part 5

Monday again?! I hope you enjoyed our special anniversary posts last week. What a fun, smexy year it’s been, and we wouldn’t have anything to show for it if it weren’t for you, our friends and fans. So thanks again for reading our posts, leaving comments, and poking us on Facebook.

Couple of announcements: Lee Brazil has a new book available, the FOURTH book in his hot, romantic Truth or Dare series: Taking the Dare. Click on over to Breathless Press and download your copy today.

Did you submit your prompt ideas for Story Orgy’s Summer Road Trip? If not, get to it! Come up with these type of prompts:

person (no proper names please)

destination (can be proper or not…hehe)

disaster (something to throw this road trip in a tizzy…be creative!)

and then send your prompt ideas to Storyorgy<at>ymail<dot>com by March 1st. One entry per person, please. Each of the Story Orgy writers will pick their favorite prompts and we’ll announce the winners on March 5th, the following Monday. Those who submitted the winning prompts will get a copy of the anthology before it is released! As usual, the first 90 days will go to a charity that will be announced closer to that time.

Okay, on with the post! This week I’m writing a Hook Up, and our prompt is: Your character finds a black and white photo. Write about it.

The hot, hot, hot picture was a gift from our lovely photographer, Jade Baiser. Whew, just love that pic!

Now, are you ready to get back to the spooky story? A couple weeks ago, Jack told Dan some stranger named Russell warned him that Nora and Angelica were in danger. Well, I think it’s time we checked back in on Nora and Angelica, don’t you?

The clouds were gray and heavy, promising snow. Nora shuddered and turned away from the window to resume folding clothes. Angelica’s sigh from her bed across the room caught Nora’s attention.

“Everything okay, Angelica?” Nora asked.

“Just remembering,” Angelica said, voice shaky with emotion. “Old photos do that to me.”

“Old photos?” Nora abandoned the folding and crossed to stand beside the hospital bed. “What old photos?”

Angelica extended a shaky hand, wrinkled fingers clutching several black and white photos. “These.”

“Where did you get these?” Nora asked as she looked through the photos. All of the same man, tall, strong, and vital in some photographs, his good looks marred by a wild expression in others. “Who is this?”

“Magdalena found them,” Angelica said. “That’s grandpa Astor.” She held a trembling finger to her lips. “We aren’t supposed to talk about him.”

“Grandpa Astor?” Nora said. The name triggered a vague hint of memory from long ago, but she couldn’t recall why. Then she asked again, “Who found these?”

Angelica pointed to the row of dolls Nora had returned to the high shelf around the room. “Magdalena.”

Nora shivered as she looked up at the dozens of blank faces staring down at her. Her gaze went to the doll with the cracked face, the first one that had fallen and triggered all of them to follow moments later. “Oh, Angelica. Really, now. Who found them?”

Angelica looked hurt. “You don’t believe me, but it’s true. Just wait, you’ll see.”

Holy crap! What’s going on with those dolls?! Hopefully next week we’ll get some answers … or see a bit more of Dan and Jack’s relationship. I hope you had fun on Superbowl Sunday, have recovered fully, and will enjoy the rest of your Monday. I’ll see you next week, but for now, click on over to the other Story Orgy member blogs and read they’re spicy offerings.
